The sequel to the demolition derby classic, Wreckfest 2, is set to launch into Early Access on PC via Steam on March 20, 2025. Developed by Bugbear Entertainment, the game promises to elevate its signature vehicular mayhem with a revamped physics engine, deeper damage modeling, and an expanded suite of chaotic racing modes.
More Destruction, More Customization
Wreckfest 2 builds on the foundation of its predecessor with a focus on delivering unparalleled destruction and customization. The overhauled physics engine ensures more realistic crashes and intricate component damage, creating an immersive experience for fans of high-octane chaos. Players can race through high-speed circuits, dodge traffic at chaotic intersections, or embrace total destruction in derby mode.
The game moves away from sleek supercars in favor of battered, patched-together vehicles that players can customize extensively. Over the course of Early Access, Bugbear plans to add more cars, customization options, and even new armor and components to cater to different playstyles. Later updates will also allow players to share their custom designs with others in the community.
Early Access Features and Roadmap
At launch, Wreckfest 2 will include core game modes such as Racing, Derby, and multiplayer matches that support up to 24 players or AI opponents. However, Bugbear has ambitious plans for the Early Access phase:
- A revamped career mode that adapts to individual playstyles
- A skill-based matchmaking system for online multiplayer
- Special challenges featuring unconventional vehicles
- Tournaments offering unique rewards through special events
- Mod support via Steam Workshop for community-created content
As development progresses, additional tracks, arenas, and gameplay features will be introduced based on player feedback.
Wreckfest 2 enters Early Access on March 20, 2025, offering players a first taste of its revamped physics and chaotic racing modes, with more updates to come.
