Party Versus Launches on Meta Quest 3 and 3S

Party Versus, a mixed-reality social party game developed by Schell Games (the studio behind Among Us VR and the I Expect You To Die series), is now available exclusively on Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S via the Meta Horizon Store. The game offers up to four players an immersive, fun-filled experience with over a dozen minigames designed for casual, goofy enjoyment in mixed reality.

Game Overview

Party Versus invites players from around the world to engage in a variety of wacky and chaotic multiplayer games. The game is available via the Meta Horizon Store . Players can enjoy titles such as Sticky Potato, Spike Attack, and Milky Way Moovers, each offering unique challenges that ensure endless laughs.

Developer Insight

“Party Versus is all about creating unforgettable game night moments with friends and family, but in a way that’s never been done before by blending the real world with the virtual so you can play with anyone, anywhere. We can’t wait for players to experience the fun, creativity, community, and pure chaos that is Party Versus,” said Jesse Schell, CEO of Schell Games.

Gameplay Mechanics

In Party Versus, players enter a shared virtual space known as the Party Lounge. Once gameplay begins, each player’s real-world room merges into a cohesive mixed-reality environment, allowing for dynamic interactions with actual furniture and objects.

Minigames Overview

The game features over a dozen minigames that blend physical and virtual elements:

  • Hot Potato: Players must throw exploding potatoes to their friends’ rooms, creating frantic action as the objects multiply and bounce around.
  • Spike Attack: A dodgeball-like game where players grab ammunition from spawn points in their room. When thrown, balls sprout spikes and can only be deflected. Golden Balls offer high-value targets but must be carefully managed to avoid being hit.
  • Pop Pals: Players work together as a team to pop balloons faster than the opposing team. Communication is key since the numbered balloons are split between rooms and each set popped triggers bonuses and new spawns.

Game Modes

Party Versus offers several game modes:

  • Party Playoffs: Players compete for the Party Crown in various minigames, either individually or as teams.
  • Quick Party: Choose any of the available minigames and play with friends without waiting to start.

The game allows players to create private parties with friends or join public parties to meet new people. The mixed-reality aspect incorporates real-world furniture into gameplay, making each session unique. Players can earn wands, glowsticks, and sparklers as rewards for winning minigames.

Certain minigames come with a “Twisted” mode that lets players experience the game upside down or see friends’ rooms inverted completely, adding an extra layer of unpredictability and fun.
