SNK CORPORATION has officially announced the open beta test for its upcoming fighting game, FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves. The beta will run from February 20 to February 24, 2025 (PST), and will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Players can dive into the action without needing a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass subscription. The full game is slated for release on April 24, 2025.
Beta Features and Gameplay Details
The open beta will offer players a chance to test out eight playable characters across several modes. Online options include Ranked Match, Casual Match, and Room Match, while offline play is limited to a Tutorial mode. The beta aims to refine the online experience ahead of launch and provide a first look at the game’s unique mechanics.
FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves introduces the REV System, designed to enhance gameplay dynamics, alongside two control schemes: one tailored for newcomers and another for experienced players. The game also features a visually striking comic-inspired art style that adds flair to its fast-paced battles.
A Return to Fighting Game Roots
The FATAL FURY series has a storied history dating back to its debut in 1991, playing a key role in the fighting game boom of the ’90s. This latest entry follows Garou: Mark of the Wolves, released in 1999, and aims to modernize the franchise while retaining its classic appeal. Fans can expect both returning characters and new fighters as part of this next-generation revival.
The full game will be available physically and digitally on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, with digital versions also coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox Series S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. A Special Edition priced at $59.99/€59.99 will include the base game and Season Pass 1, featuring five DLC characters scheduled for release through early 2026.
