Good Shepherd Entertainment and Violet Saint have announced Moroi, a dark fantasy hack-and-slash adventure game inspired by Romanian folklore, heavy metal, and the unsettling works of David Lynch. Set to release on PC in early 2025, Moroi promises a unique blend of bloodstained combat, surrealist environments, and grim humor.
Navigating a Nightmarish Labyrinth
Moroi plunges players into the Cosmic Engine, a labyrinthine world filled with grotesque inhabitants and shrouded in perpetual darkness. Players awaken with amnesia, their past and identity lost to the shadows. As they fight to escape this nightmarish realm, they’ll encounter disturbing creatures and solve unsettling puzzles.
Combat is brutal and visceral, featuring a gruesome arsenal of unconventional weapons. Players can tear through enemies with a hellish duck or unleash projectiles from a flying brain. The game encourages experimentation and creative approaches to combat, promising a unique and bloody experience.
Unconventional Puzzles and Dark Humor
Beyond the intense combat, Moroi offers a series of mind-bending puzzles that go beyond traditional riddles and block-pushing mechanics. Players may need to drink blood, induce vomiting, or scavenge through entrails to progress. These unconventional solutions add to the game’s dark humor and unsettling atmosphere.
The Cosmic Engine is populated by bizarre characters who offer glimpses into the twisted world of Moroi. Interacting with these eccentric residents helps uncover the secrets surrounding the labyrinth and provides moments of dark comedy amidst the relentless dread.
Multiple Endings and Player Choice
Escape from the Cosmic Engine is the ultimate goal, but the path to freedom is fraught with difficult choices. The decisions players make throughout their journey will shape their destiny, leading to multiple endings that may be even more harrowing than the labyrinth itself.
