The cult classic action game Freedom Wars, originally released on PlayStation Vita, is now available worldwide on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. Developed by the original creators, this remastered version features enhanced graphics, performance improvements, online multiplayer, and streamlined gameplay systems.
A Dystopian Future Fight for Freedom
Set in a distant future ravaged by pollution, humanity is confined to massive prisons known as Panopticons. Resources are scarce, and every citizen is branded a “Sinner” with a million-year sentence upon birth. Players must fight for survival and strive to reduce their sentences by engaging in combat missions, rescuing valuable citizens, and battling rival Sinners from other Panopticons.
Enhanced Gameplay and Visuals
Freedom Wars Remastered boasts several improvements over the original release. These include:
- 4K resolution and upgraded textures
- Smooth 60fps performance on current-gen platforms
- An improved online multiplayer experience allowing for cooperative play with up to four players
- A new “Deadly Sinner” difficulty setting for veteran players
- Streamlined looting, crafting, and other player systems
Unique Combat and Customization
Players utilize “Thorn” weapons to traverse the environment and engage in combat. These versatile weapons allow for fluid three-dimensional movement, enabling Sinners to grapple onto terrain and unleash devastating attacks. A variety of weapons with unique abilities are available, ranging from traps and healing tools to defensive enhancements. Materials gathered from defeated enemies can be used to upgrade weapons, enhancing their effectiveness.
Within the Panopticon, players earn Entitlement Points by participating in combat missions. These points can be used to acquire new rights from wardens, such as increased movement speed or the ability to relax while seated. Customizable android wardens accompany players on their journey, providing both strategic support and watchful oversight.
