Expanding the PUBG Universe

Previously known as Project ARC, PUBG: Blindspot marks a bold departure from the battle royale roots of PUBG: Battlegrounds. By adopting a top-down perspective, the game introduces a fresh approach to tactical shooters. The title reflects PUBG Studios’ commitment to exploring new genres while retaining their signature focus on realism and high-stakes combat.

Gameplay Highlights

PUBG: Blindspot is built around 5v5 team-based gameplay, where players engage in intense firefights while employing strategic tactics. The game features two primary modes:

  • Team Deathmatch: A fast-paced mode focused on racking up kills with respawns enabled.
  • Demolition Mode: An attack-and-defend scenario where teams compete to plant or prevent the activation of a “Decrypter” in a designated area.

The top-down perspective adds a unique twist by limiting players’ vision to what their characters can realistically see, emphasizing teamwork and communication. Real-time shared vision mechanics further enhance cooperative play by allowing teammates to share line-of-sight information.

Unique Features and Tactical Depth

The game boasts an array of specialized characters, each equipped with unique weapons and gadgets. Players can utilize tools such as recon drones, proximity explosives, and even destructible walls to gain an advantage. Familiar weapons like the Mk14 and P90 make an appearance, alongside innovative items like Blue Zone grenades that disrupt enemy movement.

A Nod to Esports

KRAFTON has positioned PUBG: Blindspot as a potential esports contender, thanks to its skill-based mechanics and competitive structure. The inclusion of renowned PUBG Esports player Matt “Kickstart” Smith in promotional materials underscores this ambition. His demonstration of Demolition Mode highlights the game’s strategic complexity and emphasis on precise execution.

Demo Details and Community Involvement

The upcoming demo will feature ten unique characters, three Team Deathmatch maps, and four Demolition Mode maps. This early access period aims to gather player feedback for refining gameplay mechanics ahead of the game’s full release. The demo will run from February 21 through March 3 as part of Steam Next Fest.
