Becrowned: An old-school survival horror game inspired by Silent Hill – Demo

Becrowned is an immersive survival horror game inspired by the eerie atmosphere of Silent Hill, set in a nightmarish ancient kingdom where players confront their deepest fears. The narrative centers around Richard Torrence, a traumatized and possibly deceased man, thrust into this dark realm filled with his personal demons.

The upcoming demo offers approximately one hour of gameplay, during which players will navigate an insane asylum infested with monsters while facing one of their innermost fears: confronting a manifestation of their father. The game utilizes classic survival horror mechanics, including static, dynamic, and third-person camera perspectives, puzzles, and resource management. Given the scarcity of ammunition, players must be strategic in combat to conserve resources effectively.

Richard Torrence is portrayed as a man driven by his ambitions, willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his goals. Despite his strong will and rational nature, he has failed to attain true happiness. The game unravels mysteries surrounding Richard’s past, leading the player through choices that affect not only their own fate but also those of other characters imprisoned in this world.

Players face moral dilemmas throughout the game, such as deciding whether to spare a repentant killer or risk resources to save another from certain death. These decisions shape multiple endings, ranging from hopeful outcomes to truly terrifying ones. The game’s visuals blend modern technology with a distinct retro aesthetic, creating an atmosphere that captures both the beauty and horrors of its world.

The demo can be downloaded from Steam.
